Bucktoe Creek Preserve hosts a meteorological observation site in one of our upland meadows. This observation system is monitored through the University of Delaware’s Delaware Environmental Observation System (DEOS), a network of weather stations throughout Delaware and Southeast Pennsylvania. This real-time Delaware Environmental Observing System, which gathers and archives meteorological conditions, is located in one of our upper meadows. Data collection at this station began in January 2008. A similar weather station sits in one of our oldest woodlands where it measures conditions under the canopy. This is, for example, useful for correlating stream response to precipitation within the watershed.
